#321 Riparian Zone Protection
- This project established fencing, stream crossing and alternative watering sources
to livestock producers to protect the water quality in a three county region.
Funded by ADEM-319 and Local Livestock producers.
#394 Beautifying the Tennessee Valley 1998
- Provided flowers and vegetable seeds for community projects across the valley.
Funded by America the Beautiful Fund and Local Communities.
#339 Animal Waste Lagoon Nutrient Management
- We completed another year of recycling animal waste manure by using our
agitation and irrigation system. Funded by Monsanto & Local Lagoon Owners.
#354 Environmental Stewardship
- Provided education programs and a pasture aerater to livestock producers in eight
counties on how to increase rainfall and nutrient infiltration. Funded by Legacy
Inc. and Livestock producers.
#337 Urban Oil / Gas Separator
- Provided drop inlet type bio-filters to remove Oil & Gas from urban parking lot
run off. Funded by ADEM-319, City of Decatur and the City of Hartselle.
#378 Boat & Marina Education / Vessel Sewage
- Provided on-site training and workshops on the importance of not discharging
sewage in our marinas and waterways. Assisted marina owners in securing grants
for pumpout stations. Funded by USF&W Service Funds through ADEM &
Private Marina Owners.
#385 Home-site Tree Planting Workshops
- Provided Urban Home-site Tree Planting Workshops on do's and don'ts on Urban
Home-sites. Funded by Alabama Forestry Commission, local SWCD's and Athen
Clean Community.
#352 Agricultural Heavy Use Area
- Established agricultural feeding and heavy use areas by using filter cloth and
gravel. Funded by ADEM 319 and cattle producers.
#353 Environmental Education Comic Book
- Established an environmental education comic book on the adventures of Squinty
Flinty. A wayward frog in search of a clean place to live funded by the US Forest
Service, Solutia and the Tennessee Valley RC&D Council, Inc.
#386 Groundwater Festival 1998
- Provided planning assistance and secured donations for the event. Funded by
ADEM, Private Corporations and Companies.
#382 Home Composting / Small Town
- Provided the city of Rainsville with 100 home composters and educational
materials on composting. Funded by ADEM-319 City of Rainsville.
#377 Botanical Gardens Wetlands
- Established an alternative on-site treatment recipricating wetland and educational
demonstration. Funded by Tennessee Valley RC&D Council State funds,
Huntsville Botanical Gardens and Stalite Aggregate.
#387 Cropland Protection
- Provided grant writing assistance to NRCS in Limestone County to secure EQUIP
fluids for South Limestone County Area. Funded by USDA.
#351 Wet & Wild Support 1998
- Provided Environmental Education demo / booth for the event. Funded by
Monsanto and the Flint Creek Watershed.
